Candle Care
Similarly to plants, candles thrive with a bit of care. This way, you can ensure that your candle has a safe, even and clean burn, allowing you to enjoy it to its fullest potential without any worries. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your candle!
Before
Trim the wick of your candle to approximately 5mm before each burn. Doing this prevents the buildup of soot by keeping high flames at bay. It also ensures that your candle burns evenly and lasts longer. Our candles are pre-trimmed, so this is not necessary for the first burn.
A candle’s first burn establishes the pattern for the remaining burns. Allow your candle to burn for 4 hours during your first burn. When you allow the wax to melt to the edges during the first burn (your candle may not reach a full melt pool the first time), the candle is less likely to tunnel and offers a maximised scent throw.
During
Limit burn times to 3-4 hours per session. This ensures safety by preventing high flames and overheating.
Use your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface and away from any flammable materials, such as curtains, tea towels, and bedding. Also, keep your candle in a draft-free area to maintain a steady flame and even burn.
Never leave a candle unattended, as it can quickly ignite into a fire if it comes into contact with something flammable.
Closely supervise children and pets around a burning candle to avoid fires, spills or burns.
After
Centre the wick if it has shifted. Gently nudge it back while the wax is still soft.
Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from any heat sources, and keep it covered if possible.
Main points:
- Trim the wick before every burn.
- Never keep a candle burning for more than four hours
- Keep away from children, pets, and fabrics.
